Flight cancellations and delays hindered most of the Lone Star State Incident Management Team (IMT) members from reaching New York at their scheduled arrival times on Wednesday. While the majority of the team members are now in New York, some are scheduled to arrive late Thursday. The Texas team’s transition meeting with the New York Fire Department IMT was postponed to Friday morning.
Those who have arrived will spend Wednesday shadowing the FDNY incident management team they’ll be replacing, working out of an incident command post established at New York’s Floyd Bennett Field. The team has spent weeks canvassing neighborhoods affected by Hurricane Sandy, surveying more than 92,000 residents and providing commodities and heaters.
